About Project Soul

Biography
Project Soul, was founded by Kim Sato, a traditionally trained dancer turned street dancer who brought together the underground talent of Vancouver that she discovered when starting to study the different disciplines of street dance. As a crew they hope to share the love and passion of hip hop and funk styles showing the positive impact it can have on communities and how it connects/identifies with so many of today’s youth.
Made up of 13 individuals, they specialize in different genres of street dance: popping, locking, hip hop, street jazz, and breakdancing. Each person within the crew continues to study and train with the creators and leaders in their specific styles.
Currently the crew has an educational touring show that is 45 minutes in length. Although the crew has 13 people only 5 of these talented individuals perform in this production at a time. The crew has toured throughout the BC school system for the past 2 and half years performing over 250 times inspiring audiences from Kindergarten to Grade 12. They have also recently performed in front of their peers at the event Cypher For Change in Whitehorse, Yukon and have a contract in the spring throughout the communities in Northern Ontario. Currently they are in creation and production mode for their new full length show.
As well as touring their show, Project Soul is available for events and trade shows. They have recently performed for ReMax, debuting the new theme song at their Western conference award show.
They have also participated in Family Fuse at the Vancouver Art Gallery and most recently performed for the 10th anniversary Gala Fundraiser for the Dance Centre at the Four Seasons Hotel. Other shows have included performing for the Hollyburn Country Club, Winterfest, Salsa Festival, Winterruption, Horsefly Festival and for New Works.
Project Soul has a mission to spread the understanding of and love for street dance to as many communities as they possibly can. They simply want to continue to honour and respect the culture that has given them so much passion and kept them inspired.
